Revision of the Timetabling Process has started
On 5 November 2014, around 60 representatives of RNE, FTE and ERFA as well as participants of Infrastructure Managers (IM) and Railway Undertakings (RU) from all over Europe met in Mainz for the start of the common project.
Since the opening up of the market (open access) in European rail traffic, the requirements made of RUs and IMs have changed greatly. The goal of the project is to develop further the current planning process in passenger and freight traffic and to adapt to fit market requirements. A number of important issues such as efficient capacity use, more flexible path offers, improved involvement in effects of works and maintenance of infrastructure as well as reduction of planning workloads are to be taken into account.
Based on the outcome of the kick-off meeting there has been agreed 5 work packages. FTE takes over the lead of WP 1 „Market, Capacity, Works&Possessions" and of WP 5 „Change & Risk Management".
The project group of WP 1 as well as WP 2 "Processes" have started their work on 3. and 4. December 2014 with approx. 30 project representatives. The next workshops will take place at the end of January 2015.
