Philipp Mäder, President of FTE and Philipp Koiser, Head of Capacity Management at RNE, delivered key insights at the High-Level Passenger Meeting in Vilnius, addressing the draft Capacity Regulation. Here are the highlights:
- Increased Capacity: Involving the market in a dialogue during the strategic planning can help resolve network scarcity issues early, enabling more trains on existing networks.
- Enhanced Reliability: Improved TCR rules will lead to higher stability and reliability for the customers.
- Integrated Needs: Adapting path request timelines to different requirements ensures both passenger and freight services receive high-quality network access, either long in advance or on short notice.
- Network-Wide Approach: The new Regulation will simplify cross-border planning through multi-network capacity rights and harmonised European Frameworks.
- Protecting RUs: Multi-network capacity rights will safeguard Railway Undertakings from the adverse effects of uncoordinated TCRs, ensuring smoother operations.
A big thanks to our partners CER and UIC for organising this event and dedicating a panel to the draft Capacity Regulation!
